Other than that, this game is porbably the most peak thing I've seen in a long while. The sound effects and music (the beeping kinda add to the stress of the timer- perhaps that's intentional) are so awesome, the color palettes are cute (my fav's the third one and my sibling the second one), the story was adorable with a nicely wrapped theme, the characters are extremely fun, and top it all off the actual game mechanics itself.
Also extremely cool detail of the one-eyed dicesmith becoming a one-eyed hammer as well. I thought the hammer was just that way at first when first introduced to the hammer but then the backstory showing why was so cool. Additionally, how all the backstories in the paintings and the drawing? on the collector weaving the entire storyline together is probably the coolest thing ever. (i think i said that about a lot of stuff of this game already- everything is just so thought out and awesome)
Although the tutorial felt just a teensy eensy bit slow at first.
Also also, theory on the dice of dusk! Since the dice are created by the thoughts of the dice creature, and the dice of dusk directly led to the dice creature, does that mean the dice creature wanted someone to find them?! From what I interpret in this very direct story, the dice creature felt overwhelmed by the problems of the world and thus created the box and the manor to hide themself in, but they also called for help through the creation of the dice of dusk.
Questions tho to this theory. Dusk said that they found the dice of dusk (okay more like 'stole' but how exactly did they steal it?? (like does dice just appear around the dice creature or like in a general radius or just wherever) from whom did they steal it from??) AND THEN the dice manor popped up in the forest. So maybe the dice of dusk was just the dice creature wanting to find some friends? so that it'll lead someone to them?
Also also also, the collector knowing the dice creature was a dice creature implies that there's like, also other dice creatures in the world. I mean i guess they would know about the existence of dice creatures since they're a collector of dice. Hmm.. idk what worldbuilding lore this bodes.
Personal exp rant about how tf my lil sibling is better at this game than me >:( : currently my record on the endless is a 48 63(it's called getting as many mysteries as possible with little generosities- honestly it's not the puzzle itself that's time consuming.. it's the placing of allll the dice!). my sibling is soooo much better at this game than me honestly T-T I was stuck on the second corridor, and when I showed it to them, they cleared it the first time (WITH ZERO TUTORIAL BTW i explained it to them as they first played the second corridor- obv I helped them out too by pointing to some cases where a dead end two HAD to be sucked up by the generosity dice) and they also cleared the third corridor for me on their very first time. they're currently away and isn't invested in the story as much (i 100% the game) andddd I cant wait for them to play around with the funky new dice i discovered plus get a really high score on the endless mode
oh yeah, that's why i was asking for replayability on the painting puzzles! they personally dont feel like playing dice of dusk on their own itch.io account and wanna play it on mine cuz sibling exp or whatever
edit: ALSO ALSO the duck song reference?!??!?! the grape dice being found next to a lemonade stand? also forgot to mention that ALL the dialogue in this game is amazing and really funny; the names of the different dice are also quite cute
For some reason my game crashed during endless run after i beat a level. My score was at least 42. It even changed colors back to "detective dice" once i reopened the game
I doubt that there are dice bigger than 12 since they wouldn't be able to be solved even with 4 friendships. Still this makes me want to search the game files for 9+ dice images
this absolutely ROCKS — everything about this game is so infinitely charming, you just put so much LOVE into every little thing!!!!!! even the settings menu is so fun to play with!!!! it's just,,, GRAAAAH i love it!!!
and the game just has this,,, serene simplicity and littleness about it -- it's in the colors you chose and the art style you use, the way you use negative space, the music and sound, the way you write,
it's so calm and strangely comforting in this specific way that's hard to put to words but it means SO MUCH to me, this aura the game radiates that you so carefully crafted,,,, aaaahh <3
Great game, but what's impressive more than anything is how polished everything is. There's so many little background details and UI elements that you can hover and click on and that will respond in kind with sound and animations! It's the kind of stuff that doesn't strictly "add" to the game, but still improves the overall experience. There's also such a surprising amount of post-game content!!
Overall nice puzzle mechanic and quite fun (except I have irrational hatred toward the generosity dice for some reason). Just unlocked the endless mode and still wondering how much "New Game+" contents are there :}
My overall score are:
8:43
11:29
12:59 (took 2 tries because the generosity dice I cant comprehends generosity dice D:)
Very lovely presentation, and interesting mechanics! I found all the little interactions and details such a treat! It's a solid game with a fun and whimsical story, and lots of neat small things to poke at! I didn't get to poke them all yet, but would poke again!! \o/
Some side notes would be that it was unexpected finding out there was a timer to the puzzles later on (and I'm not sure there was any story reason for it either). And I may have missed something, but I also didn't realize that using subtraction to make a dice an Eye dice, that SubEye didn't behave like the normal Eye dice and couldn't be placed next to regular Eyes, and also it CAN be safely placed next to a subtractor.
i started to REALLY like this game, i'm a fan of the entire collection of games that Kultisti made, including the ones that aren't my type the game started off great with it's silly little story of the duke of dices and the dice creature can't forget about the dice puzzles, they're the staple of the game too, slowly introducing new types of dices for you to use and the second chapter expands on this idea too using the dice combination feature, possibly increasing the solutions potential and ways to make puzzles ...but then i saw that there was a timer and i ended up failing at the last level because of time pressure, resulting in a ragequit and dropping my personal review score to a 5/10 majority of Kultisti's puzzle games don't have a timer to begin with, so it feels all weird and frustrating to me, why the timer to begin with? there were so many ways the roguelike levels could've went (depending on your unlocked combinations) and combining that with the timer really let me down
Great Game! Amazing storytelling, Made it till the very end in a couple of days. But have cheated with pause+screenshot tbo. Ayway it was a lot of fun. Thank you!
Dice everywhere. I didn't really expect this is deckbuilding and rougelike game. Also the random generated puzzle is so cool. Truely a hidden gem in many games I found.
so much fun,I say this game has potential to be great indie game if you add more content and mechanics. And where your inspiration of this particular game comes from?
This game is fun, and super intuitive (how the dice work, not the actual puzzles; those are just the right amount of difficult), I'm sad I started it so late at night, now I don't get to finish it.
The main campaign is very fun! I like the roguelike aspects in theory, and the 3 required halls are entertaining without being ridiculously difficult. However, I'm really not a fan of the 100%ing experience. Endless mode has a lot of solutions that, especially later on, feel unintuitive. The amount of runs that I had to do just praying that the RNG would allow me to anvil the remaining combinations I needed... Way too many. Specifically, it took me FIVE RUNS of grabbing nothing but dead ends and eyes just to get those two combined. I haven't gotten all of the colors, because that would just be more grinding. TLDR: Good for the main story, and endless mode is fine early on, but unfun the longer you go. Overall though, a fun puzzle game!
Every time I see you post a new game I feel compelled to play it along with several of your older ones again. Always happy to see your work and this time is no different. (Also love the added swoosh of the hair/grass whenever you quickly mouse over it, it's the little flourishes like that which give so much life to your stuff.)
Not sure who went out of their way to downvote almost all the comments, but this was my highest score on endless! (I don't think I'm going to get any higher than that lol).
Again, I already said the most of the good things to say about this game, and I still enjoyed it till the end. Tho it has something existed already in other games, the color palette, I wish you get more colors like 2/3 per completed bar instead of just one, but again,it’s more of a minor issue/nitpick so, uh yeah. Again, very amazing game, 10/10 will use more dead ends and mysteries.
(The part I talked about "100%" of Dice of Dusk starts at 42:23)
I want to follow up on this one, and I did finished the game.... well unfortunately with black magic (editing the save file.) I’m sorry, Kultisti. I guess more power for those who finished the game/grinded for the remaining colors, and you have my mad respect of dedication. Still, since unfortunately it has one finally mystery on it, I think that’s where it still boils down my issue of the game. The game is still fun till the very final puzzle, but it unfortunately becomes a slogfest when you try to grind for the colors. And it doesn’t help, you don’t carry any excess exp, should you level up. Nope the excess is gone, and you’re starting back to 0 for the next level. Again, I could excuse if you unlock 2/3 colors at a time per single level up, making it like only requiring you to grind 9/6 levels as I said before. The grind games of the 100% colors really just loses the mystery of the final thing you can unlock, and just for the most part ends up not being worth it. Regardless of all that, it’s still a fun game. I still will unfortunately think Raide will still be the best of pulling of mysteries at times imo, but I still enjoyed the one final content you can get for 100%, it’s just amount of juice you need to squeeze for it is the issue.
Another wonderful game from you Kultisti, I loved it! ❤️
It feels really professional, the puzzles are slick, and I love how generous you were on animating every detail of the game.
I haven't finished it yet, but I have a few questions:
how many chapters has the game?
I started the game playing online, but I'd love to finish it offline in the train I take every day: is it possible to resume progression of a game started in a browser on the Windows version? I'm probably the only player ever to need this, so I don't really expect this to be possible... 😅🤞
Absolutely love this game! The Inscryption inspiration is palpable in this one, without feeling like it's riding on that game's coattails. Very much its own thing, and yet it scratches the same itch.

I don’t see this listed in the tags or description, so I am going to put it in a comment, but levels become timed challenges after the tutorial section.
The time was quite generous at first and I never really struggled, but I prefer casual, no pressure puzzles, so I put this one down before I progressed much because I could tell it wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. I didn’t touch endless mode in Raide, for instance. If timed challenges are a dealbreaker for you like they are for me, this might not be your game.
was absolutely blown away when the roguelike part was introduced, might be my favorite work of yours yet
so much love packed in to everything! gameplay was so engaging that i spent hours just doing runs for fun. the concept and story is just really really cute, seeing the final few cutscenes made me feel a lot
your games have such a unique flair... i love how many small things are clickable. it always feels like there's some kind of secret left, as always in your games.

I think i went overboard
Also i think the crash from my prevoius comment was somehow caused by Örmelö
holy shit i only got like fourteen as my best
For some reason my game crashed during endless run after i beat a level. My score was at least 42. It even changed colors back to "detective dice" once i reopened the game
Ominous 8-dotted die
Yet to find 9+ dotted dice if they exist
I think the I've seen ones up to 10, I'd guess the largest possible would be 12??
I mean... technically it can be infinite if you just have ridiculosity turn it into a mystery. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I doubt that there are dice bigger than 12 since they wouldn't be able to be solved even with 4 friendships. Still this makes me want to search the game files for 9+ dice images
I'm pretty sure the Time Out thing does not check if I could in fact have rung the bell. Kind of a bug.

What a charming game, just as lovely as your others :)
Wonderful!
~Mysterious~
Puzzling!
~Characterful~

I've got a problem:
I finished and loved the game, but now if I download it (which I'd love to) I loose all my progress!
Can anyone help???
(I even got the real ending!)
I like the game, but why do eye dice hate mystery dice? They can be another eye die.
i started to REALLY like this game, i'm a fan of the entire collection of games that Kultisti made, including the ones that aren't my type

I love the sneaky John Conway's Game of Life reference
Cool narrative, but a bit unbalanced

I have thoughts.

omg i thought the no connect die was a tiny face (eyes and a mouth) in the middle of a die until one opened and its just a single eye 👁️
so pretty and juicy :D
Fun!
Minor typo in chapter one: is vs are (“dice” is plural), “there is some dice” should be “there are some dice”.
Love the game, I'm excited to see how far I can go with endless mode :)
edit: 100%'d the game!
Not sure who went out of their way to downvote almost all the comments, but this was my highest score on endless! (I don't think I'm going to get any higher than that lol).
So, I really like this game so far. Music, vibes, graphics, humor, all great. .but theres just one issue.
Why are they dice if we never actually roll them?
Awesome game! Thanks for sharing it!
I really love this game! I play this all day
This is amazing.
How did you make the music?
(also has no commentary.)

so glad i've come across dice of dusk today. raide was one of the best experiences. looking forward to playing through this one. cheers!
This is a really really cool concept!
